Solar Panels – Mounting Systems

Mounting systems are important in the installation of the solar panels. Fixed Roof Mounting

This is the most common form of mounting systems used worldwide. It is also a very straightforward process. The roofs are equipped with light aluminum rails installed on top of the roof0tiles. These serve as a skeleton for the solar panels' mounting. The mounting can be done at an angle so that the solar panels can have sun incident on to them. Typical standard of telescoping of legs for inclination is around 30 degree angle. They ensure protection from the blowing winds of speed of about 100 mph. They are commonly available in terms of the hardware in the market. They are simple to install and comparatively cheaper than the other mounting systems. There is also a provision to make the solar panels detachable from the solar mount rails. This is achieved by a slide mechanism. This also enables the adjustment to a convenient position as per the requirements.

Mounting on poles

In these kinds of mounting systems, the solar panels are mounted on the top of the poles. They find their application in the properties which do not have a proper roofing system. It is any day better to install the solar panels via the roof mounting rather than cementing a pole on to the ground and then mounting them. They are put to use in the smaller areas which are remotely located. However, there is one advantage as compared to the roof mounting systems. The solar panels can be allowed to be directed and also pitched in as per the sun's angle in the horizon. This helps ensure that maximum amount of photons are incident per unit area at any pint of the day. You can also have the leverage of installing the tracking systems which automatically determine the angle in which the solar panels must be mounted according to sun's movement over the period of day. Blowing winds however, get successful easily in order to disorient these kinds of mounting. Typically a ten foot pole is installed to withstand wind speeds of 80 to 120 mph.

Recreation vehicles are basically for travelling. They travel to the places where there is no hookup taking place or possible, but there might be an opportunity to capture sunlight in an open area without any hindrance. It is however necessary to ensure one inch space between the bottom of the solar panels and the roof of the RVs so that air could circulate well beneath the solar panels.

Mounting systems play an important role in the optimization of the efficiency that is delivered by the solar panels. Various solar panel mounting systems offer flexibility to the installers in determining what shall be the best possible match for a particular requirement. Engineers are aware of the fact that they need to install maximum number of solar panels per unit area so as to achieve space-utilization well. No mounting system can be claimed to be the best one. It all depends upon what needs to be achieved through mounting systems for solar panels.
